“I had an excellent experience working with BBB Attorneys. They were extremely responsive; almost immediate replies to emails and texts, they always answer the phone. They were always honest, providing truthful feedback and opinions and very supportive especially in the most stressful of times. Highly recommended!!”

Common questions

What distracted driving victims want to know.

If your question isn't here, just call. There's no pressure and no obligation.

  • What counts as distracted driving?

Anything that takes a driver’s eyes off the road, hands off the wheel, or mind off driving. Common examples include texting or talking on a phone, using GPS or in-car screens, eating or drinking, grooming, adjusting music or controls, reaching for objects, attending to passengers or pets, smoking or vaping, and daydreaming.

  • Can I sue a distracted driver in Connecticut?

Yes. If a distracted driver caused your crash, you can bring a civil injury claim for your medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other losses. A traffic ticket or criminal charge is not required to pursue compensation.

  • How do you prove the other driver was distracted?

Evidence can include phone records, the police report, witness statements, the driver’s own statements, vehicle data, and video from traffic, business, or dash cameras. Some of this evidence is erased or harder to obtain over time, which is why acting quickly matters.

  • How much does it cost to hire BBB Attorneys?

Nothing upfront. BBB Attorneys works on a contingency fee basis. There are no out-of-pocket costs to get started, and you only pay an attorney fee if compensation is recovered for you.

  • Is distracted driving illegal in Connecticut?

Connecticut law (C.G.S. § 14-296aa) bans texting and hand-held phone use while driving and prohibits other activities that interfere with safe driving. Even when no law was broken, a driver who was not paying attention can be held responsible for the harm they cause.

  • How long do I have to file a claim in Connecticut?

Most personal injury claims in Connecticut must be filed within two years of the injury. Evidence like phone records and video can be harder to obtain over time, so do not wait.

  • The insurance company already offered a settlement. Should I take it?

Not before speaking with an attorney. Early offers are often far below what a case is worth, and accepting one usually ends your claim. We can review the offer at no cost.

  • Do I need to go to court?

Most cases resolve through negotiation without a trial. If the insurance company will not offer fair compensation, we are prepared to take your case to court.

BBB Attorneys: Until it stops

The clock is already running.

Connecticut has a two-year statute of limitations on most injury claims. Phone records get harder to obtain. Surveillance footage gets erased. The sooner you call, the stronger your case, and there's never an obligation.
